Five reasons to get outdoors at Centennial Parklands these July school holidays

Keeping the kids amused will be easy this school holidays period at Centennial Parklands. With real hands-on fun and learning, from making campfires to catching big fish – children of with all kinds of interests will love the Parklands’ distinctive recreational and educational experiences.  

Here’s our top five programs for the kids these winter school holidays:

#1: Kids vs Wild (Thu 6 July, Tue 11 July)
Led by experienced guides, children aged 5 and up will explore wildlife outdoor challenges – this winter it’s all about firecraft for survival. Activities encourage problem solving and oodles of interaction with the natural environment.

#2: CP Bush Rangers (Wed 5 July, Wed 12 July)
A program that allows kids to be kids! A vital initiative to connect children with nature, with plenty of bushcraft, wildlife, games and ‘free play’ under the watchful eye of our experienced team of Education Bush Rangers.

#3:  Spotlight Prowl (Fri 7 July, Thu 13 July)
What goes on in the Park after dark? With the guidance of a Parklands Ranger, this special torchlight tour will take you to meet some of the incredible nocturnal creatures living right under our noses. See bats, possums, tawny frogmouths and more!

#4: Centennial Parklands Sports Camp (Tue 11 July, Wed 12 July, Thu 13 July)
Set little engines racing with this unique multi-sport camp that will give children the chance to try a range of different sports while learning about teamwork - all in the beautiful natural setting of the Parklands! Think athletics, soccer, afl, oz tag and cricket…just to name a few!

#5: Cycle and picnic (Any time!)
One of the cheapest and best ways to explore Centennial Park – with a free bike ride at the Learners Cycleway or on Grand Drive with mum or dad, followed by a picnic at one of the Parklands great bookable sites! Check out more here.
